Version 1.2.0.0 -- More likely to stay up to date

| 16 Comments | No TrackBacks

Two important bug fixes in this release:

  • Twitter now limits you to 140 characters for your posts, so Twadget will respect that
  • A fix for the problem where Twadget just can't see new posts for you, due to some goofy IE kludginess under the covers (Thanks to Omar Shahine for pointing me in the right direction for this fix)

Just a heads up, your download link is broken at the moment. :)

I am using it on my Macbook running Vista. Works well. For future consideration, how about the ability to change the color?

Thanks, and I put a link on my Blog to your site regarding twadget.

I love the gadget, but to be honest....it's WAY too long. Perhaps give us an option to resize the gadget. Personally, I'd love to have it about 1/3 of the current size.

Excellent work though, I like the color too, but an option to customize the color would be great too.

Will -- I'll look into adding something like that. In the meantime, you can tweak the colour by editing the background-docked.png and background-undocked.png graphics in your Twadget.gadget folder.

xxdesmus -- It's actually surprisingly hard with Windows Gadgets to change the size of the gadget. I'll have a prod and maybe make a "Only show the one latest post" size gadget.

Love the gadget, it doesn't seem to be updating today. I don't need IM notification turned on do I?

It's not too difficult to change the hight of the gadget. Just follow these steps:

0) Remove the gadget from the sidebar.

1) Locate your gadget folder. It's something like:
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

2) Enter "Twadget.gadget" folder

3) You can find the background images in the "images" folder.

Open "background-docked.png" and edit its height in your favorite image editor. Than save it.

I will refer to the new height as X.
I set it to 126px, but it's really up to you.

4) In the "css" folder open twadgetDocked.css

Set the first height value from 300px to X-50px. I set it to 76px.

The second one from 310px to X-40px. For me it was 86px.

Save the file.

5) In the "en-US\js" folder open twttr.js (with Wordpad for example).

At the end of the script you will find: "if (docked)"...
After it stands two height values. Change both to X (126 in my case).
No "px" after the number this time!

Save the file.

6) Add the gadget again to the sidebar.

Primitive as it is. It worked for me.
Writing a separate setting for it would have been a more elegant thus more time consuming solution.

Happy end.

hello,

this gadget looks very promising.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to install. I noticed you had this problem before?

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks heaps - I love the gadget! Keep up the great work!

I love this gadget - great work!

Some feature suggestions for the future:
1) clickable links
2) selectable (eg, copyable) text
3) open to show the username of the tweet as well as the full name - make it easier to send direct messages or reply

Cheers!

I love twadget! But today I am getting a Runtime error on line 2043.

Any ideas on fixing this would be appreciated!

Hmmm... it looks like Twitter is down at the moment. That's probably a good explanation for that runtime error...huh?

Hrm. My posts aren't showing up at twitter or on the little gadget thing. :(

I have installed Twadget fine, and it looks great! :D

However when I try to post a message through the gadget, I get the "Posted!" notification come up, but my twitter profile isn't actually updated with my message. :(

Seems like the Twitter server is swallowing up the messages again.

Any ideas?

Great work, thanks for this gadget! I had smooth experience with whole process. Installed directly from link from Firefox with Download Manager. Most gadgets won't install from link even if option there. Nice attention to detail! After giving my twitter info in opts, it fired right up. I'm going to enjoy having this on my sidebar or desktop (it seems a good one for undocking), thanks again!

After the installation, Twadget doenst show up in my sidebar :(

What am I doing wrong? can anybody help?
